“One man’s principled conviction is another man’s ‘hate speech,’” said Barber. “For this reason – to protect the free exchange of ideas – our Founding Fathers gave us the First Amendment. The election of President Obama and the recent passage of so-called ‘hate crimes’ legislation has galvanized the radical homosexual lobby, the pro-amnesty crowd, the quasi-Christian left and other fringe factions. Now, more than ever, they are emboldened to silence all dissent.
“We knew it was merely a matter of time until liberals – to include the Obama administration – would begin using the euphemistic terms ‘hate crimes’ and ‘hate speech’ interchangeably. None of us thought it would happen this fast. Those of us who opposed the new ‘hate crimes’ law have charged for years that the bill’s true objective was to silence any opposition to liberal views, including principled opposition to the homosexual lifestyle and illegal immigration. Before the ink on Obama’s ‘hate crimes’ signature is even dry, we have our smoking gun. The verdict? Guilty as charged.
“Unfortunately, the UCC’s leadership is cut from the same counter-biblical, anti-American cloth as President Obama’s racist pastor Jeremiah Wright. The religious-left movement fervently pushes the doctrines of postmodern secularism – all dolled-up and tagged ‘Christian.’ They want to have their religion cake and eat it too. In order to achieve their extreme left-wing goals, they are willing to stand by – strike that – they are willing to advocate the trampling of our beloved First Amendment under jackbooted government heel.
“But I’m encouraged. Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of their like-minded cohorts continue to over play their hand. Despite open attempts to “remake” America, we are not an Eastern Bloc country. We’ve defeated the cancer of Marxism before and we’ll do it again. As I believe today’s election will prove; the tide is turning. Liberty will prevail.”

.........Let's not forget that hangings, lynchings, and racist crimes against humanity was, and still is fueled primarily from the pulpit. I know, not from your church right? I'm not saying that. But, the law is all encompassing. In the Bible belt states 15% those convicted of hate crimes against homosexuals claimed to be of the Christian faith. I know, not from your church right? But, the law has to be all encompassing.
Don't fret, ultra-conservative preachers. You're just being forced by law, to ease up a bit. Be a little more loving. Oh, wait, isn't that what you're supposed to do anyway. No one said you have to condone it, but you have to understand that your words from that podium comes with responsibility. You are responsible for how your followers treat the next homosexual person they see. You took that responsibility when you put on the robe. You can say, "God does not condone Buddhism", if that's your message. You can't say, under new law, that "God hates Buddhists", because that's gonna get someone lynched in "Gods" name. You can say that "homosexuality is sin", if that's your message. You better practice some nuance though, because no longer can you step back after a hate crime is committed and act like you didn't fuel the fire from the pulpit. So now the law has to hold your hand and give it a good pop every now and then. I know its upsetting, but look what you did.
Don't kid yourself, Johnson. Conservative Christians aren't scared of Barack Obama and his legion of liberal scumbags in Washington.
Push is close to becoming shove. The game is about to be taken up a notch and the church won't be silenced any more today than it has been silenced before now. The liberals and their special interest groups are firing Christians up, not backing them down!
I don't remember mentioning Obama, but....ok. My response is that of law, consequences, humanity and hate crimes. My Christianity is more concerned with these things, not political positions.
M.Johnson...please, give me a break. You claim the preachers and Christians merely need to watch what they say, they need to be "forced by law, to ease up a bit", in other words to toe YOUR line. Baloney....this is really simple, you want all opposition silenced, even if it too is spoken with conviction - and maybe even love. This legislation espouses tolerance yet hate crimes legislation is the exact opposite, it is the silencing of any opposing viewpoints, it is the most egregious intolerance. I believe in my worldview as much as you do your worldview, yet you are the only one who can have a vocal opinion????? Give me a break, that is ridiculous and like a 2 year old on a playground not getting it all his/her way. It is a morally and ethically immature view to take, in the human race WE ALL have to learn to ignore those who hurt our feelings, who don't live as we do, who don't believe in the same things we do. Grow up and join the adults.
You cited that 15% of those convicted of crimes against homosexuals claimed Christianity. First off you know as well as I that just because someone claims to be a Christian (or any other affiliation) does not mean they are sincere adherants to the faith or group. There are imposters in EVERY group. Second of all, even if they were true Christians, they were wrong and the operative word in your statement is that they were convicted, they are/were behind bars to pay for a CRIME. There is no excuse for any group or indiviual to break the law, no excuse for commiting violence or crimes of ANY kind under any banner (Christain or homosexual). So give me a break, they are paying for their crime and this before "hate crimes" legislation. The gov't doesn't need to "force" Christians to do anything by any extra law(s) because obviously the laws already on the books work. So again the point is not judicial fairness, you want dissenters silenced.
And please don't insult my intelligence with arrogance, under "hate crimes" legislation homosexual groups not only want dissenters to shut up but they are also asking for a free pass on their own speeech. Homosexual individuals or groups could rant and rave with the most bitter, vitriolic hate filled speech and such speech could enflame adherants to the point where they go out and commit crimes. Yet neither you nor supporters of this legislation would ever blame the speech or speechgiver, it is a one-way street only in that regard. Please tell me what recourse of law will we in the Christian community have when homosexual activists fuel hate from their "pulpits", who will hold their hand and give it the good pop when they get out of control? There is no provision for this in the legislation. And what recourse will I have when 15% of self-avowed homosexuals commit crimes against Christians, when they are targeted for no other reason than their faith? Will there be extra punishment for this hatred, will you be there to fight for my rights and my fair treatment? Based on your comments I bet not. Tolerance? Fairness? Accountability? Not hardly - you are asking for unfair and unequal treatment and it it is intellectually, morally, and ethically immature, devious and dangerous.
Bottom line, God has not given Christians a spirit of fear. If He calls for preachers and lay people to speak out against sin, any sin, that is what we will do. Not because of hate, but out of love. It is love that prompts us to warn others of the consequences of ignoring Jesus, of not fleeing and repenting of sin. God, and His words will not be silenced, no matter the legislation or hatred. - Rob from Alabama
From M. Johnson's profile:
"I am currently a large believer in God. I am not a believer in people. I have a moderate science and history background in education. I was once an avid church go-er. I, at one time believed most if not all that I was taught. I now live in the question/ agnostic world."
So, what are you, M. Johnson? Are you a "large believer in God" or are you "living in the question/agnostic world"? You can't be both and truthfully claim to possess Christianity as your faith you know, not that anyone who reads your words would believe you to be Christian anyhow.
I guess we can discern "That the Emperor has no Clothes"...
People who point out the emptiness of the pretensions of powerful people and institutions are often compared to the child who says that the emperor has no clothes.
In this case those who are on the liberal left who impersonate Christianity are shameless frauds that need to be exposed to who they are.
We who are the body of Christ are to be a light to the world and at the same time, that you preach the truth with salt...
Matthew 5:13
[ Salt and Light ] "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
You have been wrongly deceived Mr. Johnson, and to come in here and think that you can convince us that wrong is right, and right is wrong and then somehow placed the blame on Christianity; then let me assure you...
We will not be trampled upon, nor shall we take up a hand against thy brother in vengeance; that Mr. Johnson we leave to the Lord!
"Is not this laid up in store with me,sealed up in my treasuries?
Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their
doom comes swiftly".
For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone and there is none remaining, bond or free. Deuteronomy 32:34-36
God will not be mocked, nor those who truly love Him and believe in His words!
M.Johnson,
The law can hold my hand when it stops murdering innocent children. TRUE ministers of God's word don't goad people into killing in the name of God.
Incidently, the same standard should be held to you. The point could be made that YOUR view inspires people to kill pastors, pro-lifers, or anyone else who disagrees with you.
We don't mind a standard. We just like EVERYONE to be held to the SAME.
Why did two young women get off with a slap on the wrist for assaulting a 69 year old pro-life demonstrator?????
Not Hate????????
Don't bother answering. I'm sure your answer will be just as ridiculous as your above points.
I certainly hope we can defeat the cancer of marxism because ever since November 4th 2008, I have considered myself an American dissident.
Anyone know how it feels to hate the country that you live in?
It's horrible!

Ironic isn't it M.Johnson???,
You have come onto a distinctly Christian web site and had your say on it's blog board. You came into an arena that holds to a certain worldview, you had your say with words that were condescending and arrogant to the typical viewer of this site. In short you expressed a contrarian viewpoint with some animosity... and yet you were still cleared by the admin to post your thoughts. Funny is it not?? Considering you wish to take away freedom of thought and expression from Christians and non-Chrisitans who hold a contrarian view to accepting the sin of homosexuality.
I would laugh at the absudity and intolerance of the so called tolerant "hate crimes" legislation, but this is serious business that goes to the heart of the First Amendment.
Please be consistent in your thinking, Either we all have freedom of expression or none of us do. You undermine the very thing you say you wish to uphold and we will ALL suffer.
Rob from Alabama
nothing to do with this argument, just pointing out something i noticed,Mike you said this is happening very fast, and I agree but what blew me away the other day on Glenn Beck show was how fast we may be going to a one world government. Dec 7-18 our president will be heading to Copenhagen again for a UN world summit, where the world leaders will be hearing on how they must sign a treaty for a one world government. Not governance but one world government. Obama will have exactly a month to decide on signing it or not. Now things are just flying right along prophetically wow.
M Johnson, according to the CDC a gay homosexual man is more likely to be murdered by another homosexual. These statistics are consistent nation wide. So it seems that you hate yourselves more than any Christian ever hoped to.
The hate crimes law is arbitrary and depends on subjective reasoning to determine intent. It will and is already be used on the very people who bring hope and love to the very people you claim we hate.
You may not realize this but hate crime legislation discriminates and criminalizes more than protects anyone. So your attempt to harass and intimidate and yes threaten us on this website falls on deaf ears. In fact you are doing the very thing you charge us with. DianefromKY
